Clerical Officer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clerical Officer to join the Regional Organised Crime Unit (ROCU) in Bridgend.

ROCUs form a critical part of the national policing network, providing a range of specialist policing capabilities to forces which help them to tackle serious and organised crime effectively.

The Clerical Officer will manage a small team of Administrative Assistants who provide support to officers and staff across the ROCU.

The role will require the applicant to supervise and carry out general administrative duties which may include co-ordination of office diaries, minute taking, formatting documents, ordering, mail collection and distribution and filing and storage of information. The role will also provide general information to customers (internal and external), on the phone, face-to-face and electronic, based on existing departmental procedures.

The successful candidate will have previous supervisory and administrative experience, excellent organisational skills and the ability to work calmly and effectively in a busy environment.  You should be highly competent in all Microsoft Applications and be able to retrieve and update considerable records/data with both manual and national systems. You will carry out a wide range of functions including support relating to HR, Estates, Finance, Health and Safety Compliance, Evidential Property Management, and general administration functions to support operational policing.

We are looking for a team player who is a good communicator, has a keen eye for accuracy and detail, who can work well with others but also work alone on projects.  We will require you to engage with internal and external customers and provide a high-quality standard of service.

We support and encourage flexible and agile working, and welcome applications from those interested in working either full or part time.

You may have the flexibility to work from home in accordance with the requirements of the role and current working policies.  You may occasionally be required to work from other sites in the South Wales Region.

The successful candidate(s) must be willing to undergo vetting to MV/SC level.

Please note, if you are an internal candidate and subject to an ongoing PSD investigation, your appointment or placement in the role may be delayed pending an outcome. Whether the role is held open will be considered on a case-by-case basis
