Salary: £33,603 - £35,772

Location: Courtland Road, Hull

Hours: 37 Hours per week (Full-time) Occasional Weekends

Flexibility Requirement: Candidates must be open to flexible daily working hours to meet the operational needs of the department. This may include adjusting start and finish times, providing cover during peak periods, or supporting colleagues during absences. Flexibility is essential to ensure consistent service delivery and effective team collaboration.

Humberside Police are seeking a highly motivated individual with proven driver training experience to join our dedicated team. This role is crucial in ensuring our officers and staff are equipped with the advanced driving skills required to perform their duties safely, effectively, and in line with national standards.

 

 

 Key Responsibilities:

  • To train police officers and staff of varying experience up to the level required to perform their duties. This will primarily include standard response and advanced courses and, where required, other specialist courses such as pursuit and containment. These programmes will take into account the Forces People Strategy, Plan on a Page and The Learning & Development (L&D) Strategy.

 

  • Assessing students’ needs, devising and delivering training using varied methodologies to meet learning outcomes.
  • Works in collaboration with other L&D staff to design and develop new products related to driver training, or review/update existing ones to meet Force identified aims and objectives in line with national standards and Approved Professional Practice (APP).
  • Review course material and ensure appropriate pre-course planning is undertaken taking into account police operational requirements
  • Review evaluation reports to identify opportunities for improvement and take action to address issues as they arise. Provide timely and accurate documentation and data to the Administration Support Team.
  • Assessing students’ needs, devising and delivering training using varied methodologies to meet learning outcomes.
  • Carry out continuous assessment, instruction and coaching of students according to their needs.
  • Review evaluation reports to identify opportunities for improvement and take action to address issues as they arise. Provide timely and accurate documentation and data to the Administration Support Team.

What the role requires:

  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Holds a full Driving Licence.
  • Possesses an adult teaching qualification at a minimum of Level 3 (or equivalent) or is willing to work towards this.
  • Is currently, or has previously been, a qualified ‘advanced’ emergency services driver or been qualified to drive vehicles in other roles to an advanced standard safely at speed.
  • Has experience, and is able to demonstrate success, in training and developing others in an adult learning environment to reach their full potential.
  • Is able to illicit information by using a range of questioning styles
  • Experience of working in a confidential environment.
  • Good presentation skills and report writing skills.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision when required.
  • Carries out tasks in an accurate and methodical manner with an eye for detail.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to prioritise workload.
