We're looking to turbo-charge our in-house creative capacity for someone to play a hands-on role to shape ideas, shoot, edit and manage visual concepts including photos, video and graphics through to final delivery.
This is a new and important role in the Communications and Engagement department, improving the force's ability to connect with and influence internal and external audiences and build trust and confidence across digital channels.
It is a great route into the world of police communications, where work will straddle everyday content to strategic campaigns and no two days will be the same. You will have opportunity to get involved in a wide variety of projects, proactive storytelling, fast-paced investigations and events.
This role supports Warwickshire Police’s mission to serve and protect our communities, building trust and confidence by telling the force's stories and supporting our operational ambition.
The main purpose of the role is to capture and produce original and creative visuals in the form of photographs, video and graphics for a variety of engagement purposes for Warwickshire Police, including campaigns, proactive storytelling, investigative outcomes and events.
To support and inform campaigns and story-telling initiatives across communications and engagement and beyond.
Campaigns and activities focus on internal and external audiences, varying in scale, theme and duration.

Main Responsibilities:
To produce a range of visual content including photos, videos, reels, interviews, digital graphics, infographics and immersive features for use across digital, print and promotional materials aligned with campaign, operational and marketing goals, maintaining a cohesive visual brand messaging strategy for Warwickshire Police.
To work in partnership with colleagues in the Communications and Engagement team to plan and execute photo and video shoots aligned with Warwickshire Police campaign, operational and marketing goals, identifying locations and subjects and preparing creative briefs/storyboards.
To manage all technical aspects of photography/video recording and editing, ensuring content aligns to high professional standards using brand-aligned styles, colours and formats.
To source and identify opportunities to document and promote meaningful moments in Warwickshire Police life and capture high-quality content showcasing the force.
To provide photography and videography support for key organisational events including attestation ceremonies and awards.
To support operational policing and professional services teams with on-site recording and live-streaming where needed, for example for community engagement and recruitment events.
To enable, motivate and coach colleagues in the team and across the wider organisation to champion effective and consistent use of visuals and creative storytelling approaches in line with the force brand identity.
To track photograph, videography and graphics trends, techniques and technology to identify opportunities for the growth and development of force visuals and advise on application of these.
To manage and maintain equipment including cameras, lenses, lighting gear, and editing software, ensuing readiness for team use.
To manage an organised and searchable digital image library and efficient storage and archiving of digital assets.
To use every opportunity commensurate with other duties to promote the work, vision and values of Warwickshire Police, ensuring a high level of customer service in all dealings with internal stakeholders, partners and the public and ensuring continuous development of skills, knowledge and creativity.
To undertake other duties commensurate with the nature, level of responsibility and grading of this post, as required.
Knowledge:
Level 3 (or equivalent) qualification.
Technical knowledge of cameras, lighting, sound, and other filming equipment to capture high-quality images and videos.
Technical knowledge of using digital editing software and tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Final Cut Pro and AI to edit and enhance photos and videos.
Understanding of how to compose shots effectively, capturing the desired emotion, narrative or concept.
Understanding of the principles of brand identity and how to maintain brand guidelines.
Experience:
Proven experience as a photographer/videographer.
Demonstrable video editing ability with a strong portfolio in range of styles and purposes.
Familiarity with special effects, soundtracks, 3D, compositing and accessibility features.
Experience of leading communication projects and initiatives from concept to implementation and evaluation.
Key Skills:
Technical skills to operate and maintain camera and lighting equipment.
Proficiency in photo and video editing software and tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro and AI with ability to edit footage and use soundtracks, voiceovers and special effects to create cohesive narratives for videos.
Creative storytelling skills, with ability to create storyboards, develop scripts.
Strong visual sense to create unique and compelling imagery.
Interpersonal skills to interact with clients and subjects
Time management skills to complete shooting and editing tasks within set deadlines.
Stamina and dexterity to carry equipment and work in various conditions for extended periods.
Ability to work to a deadline and under pressure.
Ability to multi-task and prioritise work.
Versatility and adaptability.
Problem-solving skills
Desirable:
A degree in a specialist relevant subject such as photography, film studies, visual arts, or a related field.
Experience of working in an emergency service or similar fast-paced communications environment.
Experience of generating visual content concepts for organisational use.
Experience of developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders across the organisation and externally.
Experience of providing training to enhance the communication capability and capacity of the workforce.
