About the team/department you will be joining:
The Level 2 Crime Scene Investigator roles will be based at one of the Crime Scene Investigation hubs at Ystrad Mynach Police Station
The Level 2 Crime Scene Investigator role will have the requirement to undertake examinations of various crime scenes across the South Wales and Gwent Police force region, including both volume and major crime and therein will be responsible for the recovery of all forensic evidence types.
About the role and your key responsibilities:
- To actively assist investigations by providing forensic advice and support.
- To deliver a specialist service to victims of crime, South Wales Police and Gwent Police and the wider Criminal Justice system.
- This role is not suitable for part time/job share workers due to operational requirements.
What skills and experience do we need you to bring to the role:
- Must have a recognised Level 1 CSI qualification.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively with victims & witnesses.
- Must have good presentation skills and ability to produce accurate reports of a high standard and the ability to sketch accurately record diagrams.
- Must be competent in the production of evidence relating to an examination and the presentation of that evidence in court.
- Must be able to utilise specialist and technical equipment to high standard, for example cameras and equipment including various light sources and associated equipment necessary to perform the role.
- Must demonstrate ability for planning and implementation in relation to scene management and examinations.
- Must demonstrate ability and awareness of call demand management in relation to scene attendance and examination
The successful candidate must be willing to undertake vetting to RV Level.
