We are looking for someone to #JoinUs as a Firearms Enquiry Team Leader in our Firearms and Explosive Licensing Department. Could you be who we are looking for?
About the team/Department you will be joining:
The Firearms and Explosives Licensing Team are responsible for administering licensing processes, conducting thorough applicant assessments, and ensuring compliance with legislation to safeguard public safety in relation to firearms and explosives
The team works Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00, based at Police Headquarters or remotely
About the role and your key responsibilities:
As a Firearms Enquiry Team Leader, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and coordinating firearms licensing activities.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Leading and supporting a team of eight Firearms Enquiry Officers within the Firearms and Explosives Licensing Department, ensuring high standards of professionalism and performance.
- Managing complex firearms licensing cases, providing expert guidance and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and national legislation.
- Driving efficiency and service excellence, maintaining accurate records and delivering timely outcomes for applicants and stakeholders.
- Developing team capability, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and adherence to best practice.
- Acting as a key point of contact for internal and external partners, offering specialist advice on firearms legislation and licensing processes.
What skills and experience do we need you to bring to the role:

- Proven leadership and team management skills, with strong communication and confident decision-making
- Excellent organisational abilities and a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Knowledge of firearms and explosives legislation, or a willingness to develop this expertise

The successful Candidate must be willing to undergo vetting to MV/SC Vetting.
