Salary: Starting Salary £31,160 + £6,920 London Weighting Allowance

This role is open to all Police Staff / external candidates who meet the essential criteria of the person spec, regardless of current grade.

About the Team:

The Learning and Development (L&D) department is a busy and dynamic team with the overarching purpose of supporting the City of London Police strategic aims and objectives by developing an innovative, skilled and agile workforce in a culture that supports inclusivity and empowers our people.

About the Role:

To work closely with and provide support to the training teams with all the administration and coordination of training, events and leadership initiatives.

You will possess excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels with both internal and external customers and stakeholders.

Working with minimum supervision, you will have proven administrative skills together with excellent planning and organising skills and the ability to work effectively in a pressurised environment.

Good IT skills, particularly knowledge of working on a database or case management system are important, as well as experience of complex diary management and accurate minute taking.

Responsibilities and Requirements

  • Excellent ability to write in a clear and understandable way to internal and external stakeholders and the public
  • Excellent oral communication skills to deal effectively, efficiently and appropriately with internal and external stakeholders and the public
  • Highly developed ability to organise and plan own work, identifying conflicting demands and establishing clear priorities in order to meet agreed objectives with minimal supervision
  • Highly developed ability to work with others as part of a team, providing support as required and building and maintaining relationships with individuals in order to achieve objectives
  • Well-developed ability to collect data from various sources, analyse findings and present them in a clear way that meets desired outcomes
  • Well-developed ability to apply effective numeracy skills in entering and recording financial data and other general calculations, and working within defined procedures and regulations
  • Highly flexible and ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Proven ability to learn new procedures and apply these in a changing environment

Knowledge and experience

  • Experience in using Windows-based software packages including word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail and the internet and database packages, in order to deliver tasks and projects and be self-servicing
  • Experience of success in administering meetings, including arranging meetings, facilitating meetings and taking accurate minutes and notes from meetings.
  • Experience of developing, maintaining and reviewing paper and electronic administrative systems and information systems
  • Experience of accurate data input and the ability to interrogate data and produce accurate information for reports

Personal Characteristics

  • Ability to deal with confidential information sensitively, appropriately and with integrity

Desirable

  • A knowledge of and experience of successfully using Police Training Systems would be advantageous.

Selection Process

As part of the initial application process, you will be asked to evidence how your experience, skills, and knowledge demonstrate your ability to meet the person specification of the role.

The application and interview will be tested under Level 1 of the College of Policing Competency and Values Framework.

Applicants who fail to address the skills/knowledge/experience of the job description will not be considered.
