POLICE STAFF INVESTIGATOR ROAD SAFETY (PIP LEVEL 2)
The Police Staff Investigator (PSI) Road Safety (PIP Level 2) will involve investigating serious and complex crimes, dealing with victims, offenders and witnesses to Level 1 and 2 crimes and will be primarily focused on Road Traffic Act Offences and Pervert the Course of Justice investigations that lead from those offences. They will also be required to investigate other crimes not limited to domestic abuse, child abuse, vulnerable adult, missing, enabled cyber and dependant cyber cases as disclosed during the course of the investigations.
A significant number of these cases will be heard at Crown court and will therefore be subject to rigorous scrutiny, the offences will often involve the most serious level of offending and will therefore have the greatest impact on the victim and communities.
This role will provide investigative advice and direction to the staff/officers, undertaking their PIP 2 accreditation.
In particular to:
- Safeguarding and protecting vulnerable people, to investigate and detect NIM level 1 and level 2 crime, including all Road Traffic Act Offences and bring offenders to justice thereby supporting the Force mission, and organisational priorities.
- Managing victims, arresting, and interviewing offenders and conducting a thorough investigation. Preparing papers for court and give a clear rationale and update on relevant force system(s).
- Dealing with the more serious and complex cases and therefore predominately give evidence at Crown Court.
- Completing appropriate risk assessments for victims and offenders. Identifying vulnerability and implementing suitable measures to negate the risks.
- Working alongside partner agencies to manage the risks, working with the victim care unit to support victims.
Previous achievement of PIP 2 Accreditation is essential for this role.
