6341 Legal Services Disclosure Officer

An opportunity to work with the Legal Services Department, where you’ll be part of a valued and supportive team.

This role is a 12 month fixed term contract.

The closing date is 26th October 23:55pm

What will the role involve?

This role will deal with requests that come from members of the public and legal practitioners, asking for disclosure of Constabulary information under the exemption within the Data Protection Act 2018, where the request is made in relation to/contemplation of legal proceedings.

The legislation provides a power for police to disclose, but not an obligation to disclose; although the alternative for the requester is to seek an order from a court to compel disclosure and there is then an obligation to either disclose or apply to vary the order; either way, there will eventually be a requirement to collate, review, redact and disclose and this is the work to be performed by the disclosure officer.

In addition, the Legal Services Disclosure Officer will act as a single point of contact to liaise with the Constabulary's Information Disclosure Unit, for the purposes of handling responses to Subject Access Requests, Freedom of Information requests and redirecting disclosure requests.

There are further responsibilities and duties set out in the Role Profile.

What skills and experience do we need you to bring to the role?

We are looking for someone who is a good team player.

We are keen to hear from you if you are competent in Microsoft systems (including Excel, Word and Outlook) as well as Adobe.

With appropriate training, we will need you to be able to use multiple IT systems at once - which will include Microsoft systems and the Constabulary’s in-house systems - to capture and transfer information across various documents.

We are looking for someone who can prioritise tasks and has an excellent attention to detail.
