Chief Superintendent Promotion Process 2025
Humberside Police
Chief Superintendent
Humberside Police are inviting applications from exceptional officers who are seeking promotion to the rank of Chief Superintendent.
This is an exciting time for Humberside as Chief Constable Chris Todd is working on the next phase of strategic plans to ensure the organisation is:
- Victim Focused
- Community Focused
- Workforce Focused
We are committed to listening and engaging with our people to build a culture of trust, innovation, and high performance where our staff and communities continue to have a voice in what we do and how we do it.
We care about our people, and the communities we serve, and are proud of our award-winning wellbeing initiatives and the investments we have made in developing our people to reach their full potential. This was reflected in us being announced as the 2023 Police Force of the Year at the IESE Public Sector Transformation Awards.
We are consistently recognised as one of the highest performing forces in the country. In 2022 our PEEL grades were the best in the country, and we are responsible for pioneering the ‘Right Care, Right Person’ initiative, which provides much needed support to ensuring vulnerable people are treated by the appropriate service and reduces pressure on policing.

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have sound operational footprint with robust evidence of operational delivery. - Protecting and promoting wellbeing and welfare within areas of responsibility.
- Influencing the force planning process by developing resource and budget plans for areas of responsibility in line with force priorities, applying knowledge of changing capability and capacity in the workforce.
- Negotiating and controlling internal and external budgets within areas of responsibility and partnership arrangements.
- Leading the assessment of future demands and emerging threats across multiple areas of significant responsibility.
- Leading the design and implementation of significant organisational change projects to drive continuous improvement to public safety and best practice in service delivery.
Our force area
With a resident population of approximately one million, the communities served by Humberside are diverse, from the stunning rural areas of East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire to the busy city of Kingston upon Hull and large towns of Scunthorpe and Grimsby. We have expansive areas of natural beauty, history, and heritage, alongside a thriving cultural scene. You may remember Hull was UK City of Culture in 2017, a title we are still riding high on.
We’re well connected. The Humber Bridge connects the North and South banks of the Humber Estuary and the M62 and M1 provides easy access to the whole country. Not to mention the direct rail services, an international airport and ferry port with daily crossings to mainland Europe.
