Psychotherapist/Psychotherapeutic Counsellor
We are looking for a Counsellor who is enthusiastic and dedicated to making a positive difference to individuals in the workplace. The successful candidate will join our supportive Health and Care Team, where you will provide confidential psychological support, interventions and counselling to individuals within Lincolnshire Police.
As a Counsellor working with us you will be part of a dedicated internal team who deliver an effective counselling support service usually in solution focussed ways. You will contribute to the development, promotion, and review of all initiatives for managing health at work, including a psychological screening service for high-risk roles.
You must be a member with the BACP/UKCP/BABCP/ NCPS or equivalent and either have accreditation or be working towards it. You will also be required to have specific expertise and knowledge in managing trauma, stress, and ideally have experience as a workplace counsellor.
CORE WORK AREAS:
- Undertake triage and assessments to develop effective treatment plans based on empirical evidence which are monitored and evaluated for their effectiveness.
- To provide counselling for the treatment of moderate and complex psychological presentations, including traumatic stress / PTSD, work related stress and other comorbid conditions.
- Identify and analyse potential risk of psychological trauma to those working in specialist roles, providing evidence-based psychological treatment including CBT or other evidence based therapeutic intervention and evaluate treatment outcomes.
- Adhere to professional guidelines regarding ethical practice, clinical supervision and CPD; preserving client confidentiality and maintain accurate records in accordance with data protection and other relevant guidance and law.
- Be part of complex case discussions of clients within a multi-disciplinary team whilst adhering to professional guidelines regarding confidentiality, to ensure a coordinated, consistent approach to case management.
- Provide psychological consultation and guidance to managers and those with responsibility for providing first-line emotional support, particularly following traumatic incidents.
- Maintain systems of health surveillance to ensure that individuals are psychologically fit for their respective roles and that sickness absence is minimised.
- Identify mental health ‘hot spots’ within the organisation, generating original ideas and leading innovative solutions to be implemented and evaluated to meet the needs of the Force.
- Research, review and contribute to policies and guidelines to improve business processes and best practice, as well as contributing to strategies and policies that promote the wellbeing of employees.
- Where relevant refer employees on to other agencies or services, providing advice and support.
- Provide post incident support and debriefing, minimising the impact of trauma experienced by the workforce and promoting a culture in which our people expect to receive support services.
- Provide and review training to the organisation to better understand psychological health and the available support.
- Input statistical data to ensure that demand is appropriately recorded, and services are staffed sufficiently, allowing effective access.
- Liaise with the Lead for internal psychological services, the wider Health & Care team and other appropriate team members on a regular basis to ensure that they are aware of cases and demand and can provide appropriate support.
- Liaise with other areas of the organisation to ensure a multi-disciplinary, holistic approach to wellbeing support. This may include involvement in exceptional case reviews which may be approached collaboratively with other areas of the force such as volunteer chaplaincy, HR etc. or external providers (physiotherapists, crisis team etc).
