Solutions Analyst

The Solutions Analyst will provide technical support for applications used by the business. The role will be responsible for diagnosing issues to determine underlying problems, providing fixes or workarounds, and acting as a technical contact for both the business stakeholders and third-party suppliers. The candidate will need to communicate complex technical issues to non-IT staff/suppliers so effective communication skills is essential.

The candidate may be required to provide specialist advice to users on systems or develop or adapt complex software/web pages, information reports or install or maintain complex hardware and software. They will need to analyse and interpret complex information and/or data.

The Solutions Analyst will act as a conduit to the business for solutions scoping. This would involve communicating effectively with the business to ascertain solution requirements using business analyst skills. The role should always be examining workflows and processes and use creative thinking to define new effective approaches.

The Solutions Analyst will be responsible for documenting fixes, solutions, and requirements in a concise manor to aid knowledge transfer and corporate memory.

The role focuses the majority of the time (approx. 60%) around application support, 30% around developing scripts/fixes/apps and 10% around business analysis.

It is essential for an individual in this post to create and maintain positive communications to ensure effective working relationships with individuals, teams, and colleagues.

CORE WORK AREAS:

 

Uses software development knowledge of languages such as .NET stack, Javascript, C# and ASP to implement, test and integrate new applications.

Create tables, views, stored procedures within databases in conjunction with application development.

Captures requirements, creates use cases, and prepares written functional specifications for subsequent feasibility analysis, technical design, and implementation

Identifies gaps or inefficiencies between business market requirements and existing or proposed solutions and develops recommendations for improvement

Responsible for monitoring, recording, and responding to requests in the Incident Management System.

Perform routine upgrades ensuring that the change is well documented and taken through the IT Change Advisory Board for approval.

Analyse and optimise business and technical processes

Responsible for maintaining multiple information systems used by the police force

Analyse user requirements which may require configuration of software

Support the continual development of the change management process to support an efficient and safe change model which meets the business needs.

Provide technical support as required by the business and analyse error trends aimed at reducing or minimising down time.
