Vetting Officer

You’ll be the first point of contact for all vetting matters, ensuring consistency, fairness, and professionalism in every decision. This is a key position where your judgment and attention to detail will directly impact the safety and trust placed in our workforce.
Key Responsibilities
Primary Contact for Vetting: Act as the main internal and external liaison for all vetting-related queries, including coordination with other forces and agencies.
Security Checks: Conduct thorough background checks for all levels of security vetting, ensuring vetting is appropriate to each role and that associated payments are processed correctly.
Decision Making: Make informed decisions on granting or refusing vetting clearance, including requesting security comments from officers and staff.
Risk Identification: Flag complex or sensitive cases to the Vetting and Security Manager for further review and decision-making.
Quality Assurance: Maintain robust audit trails and documentation for all vetting activities. Recommend improvements to systems and practices to enhance security.
Interviews & Reporting: Conduct interviews when necessary and produce detailed reports to support vetting decisions.
Advisory Role: Provide guidance to HR and other departments on appropriate vetting levels for roles across officers, staff, contractors, and partners.
Data Accuracy: Identify and report duplicate or inaccurate records to relevant departments for correction.
Team Support: Assist colleagues in other areas of the department during peak periods, with appropriate training provided.
