Covert Authority Officer

To provide Lincolnshire Police with specialist expert advice in regards to covert surveillance
applications and CHIS Management to applicants and Authorising Officers up to and
including the Chief Constable.
Provide a single point of contact on behalf of Lincolnshire Police with the Investigatory
Powers Commissioner’s Office (IPCO), NCA, Police Advisory Service (for prisons) and the
Central Records Unit.
Ensure that efficiency and good practice is promoted whilst complying with the relevant
legislation.
Provide Lincolnshire Police with operational support in response to live-time incidents, ongoing operations or reported crime ensuring compliance with relevant Codes of Practice
both within own role and in relation to all others involved in the process of covert
surveillance applications and CHIS management.
