We are looking for someone to #JoinUs as a Payroll, Pensions and Payments Manager in our Corporate Finance department. Could you be who we are looking for?
About the team/Department you will be joining:
You will be joining a dynamic team within Corporate Finance, with shared management responsibility. You will primarily be responsible for all aspects of pensions and will work closely with the other team managers on payroll and payments (including accounts payable)
Hybrid working arrangements are currently in place within the team, with 1 to 2 days a week based in South Wales Police Headquarters, Bridgend and the rest of the week, working from home. Additional office-based days may be required throughout the probationary period for training purposes. You may also be expected to attend the office for meetings and tasks that require team working.
The full-time working hours are 37 per week. We operate a flexible working policy with consideration given to business needs, customer service and deadline related tasks when planning our working week.
About the role and your key responsibilities :
With joint management of all functions across Payroll, Pensions and Payments, you will primarily manage the pensions team in ensuring delivery of an efficient and effective service to our Staff and Officers and external bodies.
You will guide the team in answering complex queries and take responsibility for ensuring all escalations and issues are dealt with concisely and in a timely manner.
You will generate original ideas and innovative solutions through the provision of expert knowledge and will be expected to keep up to date with key legislative and regulative changes that could impact day to day delivery of all functions. You will lead the team and work with other departments and key stakeholders on ensuring smooth delivery of system and process change.
Analysis and presentation of management information to senior managers and Chief Officers is also a key responsibility in the role.
What skills and experience do we need you to bring to the role:
Experience of managing a team in at least one of the three function areas (Payroll, Pensions or Accounts Payable), with extensive, up to date knowledge of payroll legislation and pension regulations.
Knowledge and experience of managing or leading on change delivery.
Excellent Microsoft office skills plus experience of financial integrated computerised systems.
Demonstrate effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Experience working for local government or a police force in a payroll or pensions role is desirable but not essential.
The successful Candidate must be willing to undergo vetting to MV/SC Vetting.
