Role: Community Event Volunteer

Hours: minimum of 6 hours or 2 activities a month*
Contract: Permanent
*NB: The majority of our volunteering activities are during the day, with opportunities for weekday and weekend support at Open Days, Charity Events and Partner Engagement Events.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Humberside Fire and Rescue Service as a volunteer. In this role you will help to improve fire, road and water safety awareness across our communities, interacting with members of the public and community events across Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, North and North East Lincolnshire.
This opportunity is also a great way to gain some experience and enhance your CV!
Key Responsibilities:
- To attend community events and support the delivery of fire, road and water safety education messages to the public.
- Supporting Humberside Fire and Rescue Service staff, other volunteers and partner agencies at events as appropriate.
- Distributing campaign literature.
- Collect information for the service, to ascertain if members of the public will meet the criteria for a Home Fire Safety Visit.
- Supporting members of the public to complete surveys/consultation when necessary.
- Signposting to our website for further information, advice and guidance.
- Promoting the work of Humberside Fire and Rescue Service in the best way possible.

- Ability to engage with the diverse community served by Humberside Fire and Rescue Service.
- Warm, friendly and personable.
- An understanding of Data Protection and Confidentiality.
- Confident in presenting information using a range of resources and technology, including online information and VR.
- Ability to work well with a team or on tasks alone where appropriate.
- Commitment to high standards of customer care, community engagement and public services.
- Willingness and ability to travel across Humberside where required.
- Act professionally, upholding Humberside Fire and Rescue Services Core Code of Ethics and following policy at all times.

Pre – Employment Checks and Eligibility:
- Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria of at least 3 years continuous residency in the UK to apply for this role.
- Successful candidates will undergo a vetting procedure pre-requisite of employment. (Please note, with holding any information asked by the vetting department, may delay the vetting procedure, or result in your vetting been refused and the offer of employment been withdrawn)
