Lancashire Constabulary is looking for a Financial Investigator to join our Serious and Organised Crime Unit based at Headquarters, Lindle Lane.

As a Financial Investigator you will be working as part of a fast paced dynamic team conducting comprehensive financial investigations including, money laundering and complex confiscation cases in order to identify, locate and confiscate the criminally derived assets of criminals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support covert investigations, including drugs conspiracies and conduct covert money laundering and financial investigations, to identify and deny organised crime groups of criminal property. This will include the compilation of file preparation for presentation to the Crown Court in compliance with the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) and Police & Criminal Evidence (PACE) Act legislation. 
  • Obtain relevant investigative orders via the Crown Court to support Financial Investigations, including Production Orders, Disclosure Orders and Account Monitoring Orders where necessary. 
  • Prepare Restraint Orders to prevent dissipation of assets. Conduct complex confiscation investigations for multiple defendants following successful prosecutions using the provisions of the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 and the Criminal Finances Act 2017. 
  • Advise Senior Investigating Officers (SIO’s) on financial strategies, money laundering, cash seizures and asset recovery. 
  • Maintain confidential liaison with banks, building societies, other financial institutions and businesses within the Regulated Sector and credit referencing agencies to effectively progress financial investigations in line with the CPD on the Financial Intelligence Support System (FISS).

Skills and Experience:

  • Accredited Financial Investigation including holding confiscation powers
  • PIP1 Qualification or willing to work towards and complete within 12 months of completion of course. 
  • Experience of investigating complex crimes and the submission of complex files of evidence. 
  • Experience, knowledge and application of the relevant criminal law particularly in relation to; PACE, POCA, Human Rights Act and Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 (RIPA).

Vetting and Medical:

Please be aware, as a condition of your appointment you must undergo and pass Management Vetting (MV).

**Please be aware there is a minimum 5 year UK residency required for Management Vetting** You must be 18 years old at the point of applying. Successful applicants will also be subject to a medical assessment.

Upon successful appointment as per the job specification, you will be required to provide your DNA for elimination purposes, this will be held against the Contamination Elimination Database (CED).
