About the team
The Information Management Services department has a strong, integrated information management vision in which data analytics plays a big part. The department is focused on supporting the various information needs of the Force and provides services to support public access to information, information security and assurance as well as records and data quality functions.
In addition, the department fosters a culture of specialism and support for front line policing systems, including national, regional and local systems. The unique nature of the Force and its diverse responsibilities make it a great place to work and a place to develop with likeminded people working together to keep our community safe from harm.
About the role
Developing and implementing plans for improving business intelligence from information by defining implementing and delivering a comprehensive service delivery strategy for provision and continuous improvement of outstanding public facing and back office customer service and centralised business information administration across the force.
The Head of Business Information will operationally lead upon privacy and disclosure legislation (Data Protection, including GDPR compliance, Freedom of Information, Disclosure and Barring).In addition, the role will operationally lead on the delivery of Records Management, evidential Property Management as well as overseeing the ongoing operational delivery of the Police National Computer and Police National Database for the force.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will be:
- To deputise and represent the Director of Information at local (Force and Corporation), regional and national meetings and forums as required.To work with the Director in providing a strategic direction to the Information Management portfolio across the force by developing and implementing robust and comprehensive strategies to support force priorities and the force corporate plan.
- To develop programme and service reports for the relevant strategic oversight boards, including, but not limited to, Police Committee, IT Sub Committee, Information Management Board, Summit Group.
- To support the Director of Information in the alignment of the Information Management Strategy programme governance with the strategic programme management of the Police and Corporation estate.Develop cohesive ways of working with Chief Officers and Members of the City of London Corporation and external stakeholders.
- To directly support the Director of Information in the discharge of their statutory duties as data protection officer (Article 39 GDPR), through the operational delivery of data protection compliance and management of privacy risks across the Force.
- Work with key business stakeholders to design and develop end user reporting, KPI’s and analytics capability. The priority will be to carry out analysis, design and development in order to ensure successful delivery of the Force’s business information statutory and regulatory, including HMIC, requirements.
Requirements
For this role, we need you to have experience of:
- Experience in a senior role managing and developing the provision of business information in a Police environment, ensuring information meets organisational, national and legislative requirements.
- Proven ability to think strategically on business information management issues and to develop coherent policies, priorities and systems which support organisational needs in compliance with national and legislative requirements.
- Proven ability to develop business information systems which improve business efficiencies and the provision of data intelligence
- Proven ability to plan, organise and supervise activities to ensure resources are used efficiently and effectively to achieve organisational goals, and meet agreed targets and timescales.
- Proven excellent written communication skills to include reports on a range of strategic issues in relation to the management of business information.

The application and interview will be tested under Level 3 of the College of Policing Competency and Values Framework.
