Do you want to join a specialist team within Avon and Somerset Police helping us combat the threat of fraud and cyber crime?

The Fraud and Cyber Support Staff role is crucial in ensuring Avon and Somerset Police record fraud and cyber offences disseminated to us by the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau for investigation or victim care. 

The successful candidate will be reviewing reports of fraud and cyber crime, recording data on local police systems and ensuring the correct policing response is provided to victims. 

In this role, your main responsibilities will be:

  • To review and record fraud and cybercrime packages sent to Avon and Somerset Police by the National Fraud 
  • Intelligence Bureau for investigation or victim care provisions
  • To assess the correct policing response to reports of fraud and or cybercrime and onwards allocation for investigation or victim care provisions
  • To upload fraud and cybercrime reports to local police systems for appropriate action
  • To perform the role of the Action Fraud SPOC within Avon and Somerset Police
  • To oversee cancellation and transfer requests relating to fraud and cybercrime offences 
  • Liaison with the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau and Action Fraud with regards to fraud and cybercrime packages
  • Ensure that fraud and cybercrime data integrity is maintained on local force systems
  • Record fraud and cybercrime offences via Action Fraud
  • Maintain accurate records for all National Fraud Intelligence Bureau packages sent to Avon and Somerset Police
  • Conduct regular audits of National Fraud Intelligence Bureau packages for performance measures such as crime recording compliance and criminal justice outcome returns

Skills and experience required:

  • Computer literate 
  • Good prioritisation skills
  • Experience of using computer systems to input and retrieve information 
  • Good communication skills
  • Good report writing skills
  • Understanding of data protection legislation

Additional Information:

To be eligible to apply for this role you must have a 3 year ‘checkable history’ in the UK – ideally this means that you would have been resident in the UK for the last 3 years.
