Contract type: Fixed Term Contract until March 2026 

Rank/grade: Grade F

This role is open to all Police Staff / external candidates who meet the essential criteria of the person spec, regardless of current grade.

Salary: Starting salary £50,330 plus £6,710 London Weighting Allowance plus £200 London Weighting Supplement

Directorate/department: National Lead Force 

Vetting level required: MV/SC then DV to be undertaken once in role if not already held.

About the team

The National AMLAR Intelligence Development team will be responsible for the national analysis and dissemination of intelligence to the relevant geographical area of actionable intelligence to pursue offenders, bring them to justice and to pursue other money laundering outcomes such as civil recovery outcomes.

This team will be a central point of contact to support regional economic crime units, proactive economic crime units and force ECUs in obtain money laundering outcomes from the analysis of national databases.

About the role

The successful applicant will be the head of intelligence on behalf of the City of London Police National Lead Force (NLF) within the development and delivery of the new National Anti-Money Laundering Asset Recovery (AMLAR) Intelligence Development Team, and to manage the resources dedicated to this new function.

They will represent NLF interests within the ongoing delivery and design of the National AMLAR IDT. To ensure successful delivery of the National AMLAR IDT with NLF resource represented and processes designed that complement existing City of London Police teams and services, including Action Fraud.

The post holder will provide subject matter expertise for intelligence and analysis functionality in the National AMLAR IDT and NLF Intelligence resources.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will be:

  • Supporting the Anti-money laundering and Asset recovery leadership team as a lead subject matter expert (SME) for the intelligence function within national AMLAR policing through the participation in workshops, working groups, creation and review of documentation and process maps, and assessment of materials to assist and ensure successful delivery of the National AMLAR IDT.
  • Attending and participating in regular meetings representing the NLF AMLAR intelligence function as an SME and providing business input, materials and review where necessary.
  • Co-ordinating and supporting stakeholder engagement specific to the intelligence function in support of the National AMLAR IDT.
  • Providing regular, consolidated updates to NLF Leadership Team, and take direction to implement changes, reflect and promote NLF and policing priorities at a strategic level.
  • Supporting staff and growing a team of senior analysts, financial investigators along with other analysts and crime reviewers.
  • Making the best and innovative use of current technology, ensuring correct operation and compliance with organisational and legal requirements.

Requirements

For this role, we need you to have:

  • Proven experience in Intelligence Analysis in law enforcement, government intelligence or similar with exceptional research and analytical skills and techniques.
  • Proven ability to effectively problem solve using analytical and research techniques and lateral thinking processes and excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate and negotiate confidently at all levels both orally and in writing, adjusting the content to ensure it is appropriate for the audience.
  • Sound leadership skills with the ability to support and motivate others.
  • Detailed working knowledge of IT software, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point and analytical software such as GIS and i2 products or similar.
  • Ability to mentor and coach others.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills at all levels of contact and in a wide variety of situations.
  • Ability to participate in the management team and influence effectively with the highest levels of management within the organisation.

Selection Process

As part of the initial application process, you will be asked to evidence how your experience, skills, and knowledge demonstrate your ability to meet the person specification of the role.

The application and interview will be tested under level 2 of the College of Policing Competency and Values Framework.

Applicants who fail to address the skills/knowledge/experience of the job description will not be considered.
