Salary: Starting Salary £36,040 plus £6,710 London Weighting, totalling £42,750 per annum

About the Team

The Spatial & Visual Analytics Team (IMS) has a strong, integrated information management vision in which data analytics plays a big part. The department is focused on supporting the various information needs of the Force and provides services to support public access to information, information security and assurance as well as records and data quality functions.

In addition, the department fosters a culture of specialism and support for front line policing systems, including national, regional and local systems. About the role

In this role, the primary responsibility is to provide direct support to the City of London Police (CoLP) CCTV and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) operational environments, ensuring that these systems remain effective and fit for purpose. A crucial part of this task is to guarantee that the CCTV and ANPR systems are being utilised efficiently, with strict adherence to compliance responsibilities. This involves assisting operators in the use and development of CCTV and ANPR assets, helping them to maximise the capabilities of these systems.

Additionally, the role supports national policing efforts and ensures statutory and regulatory compliance through participation in relevant audits. Providing end-user support for CCTV and ANPR systems is also a key aspect of the job, ensuring that users can operate these systems effectively. Collaboration with the ANPR and CCTV manager is essential in this role, particularly in efforts to maximise the potential of these systems.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will be:

  • Complete daily checks of the CCTV/ANPR systems, recording quality and camera image quality along with camera control checks.
  • Assist and make recommendations with the accredited CCTV team in evidential compilation requirements in accordance with the requirements of the Forensic Science Regulator.
  • Undertake procurement functions as required, including the raising of purchase orders and the receipting of goods and services, challenging invoices, obtaining credit notes / corrections.
  • Actively seek to implement the City of London’s and City of London Police Occupational Health and Safety Policy in relation to the duties of the post, and always give due regard to the health and safety of both them and others when carrying out their duties.
  • Report any CCTV/ANPR issues in a timely manner to the relevant contractor, including the in-house DITs team, escalating issues or concerns regarding performance or maintenance, and updating internal records.

Requirements

For this role, we need you to have experience of:

  • Advanced Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to skilfully navigate and utilize various applications and software packages essential for CCTV analysis. This includes a solid understanding of operating systems, video analysis software, and network management tools.
  • Professional Qualifications: Possession of relevant professional certifications, such as a BTEC or Level 2 Front Line CCTV Surveillance qualification. Educational Foundations. Educational Foundations: A strong base in Mathematics and English, evidenced by attainment of GCSE/O Level qualifications or their equivalent, providing the critical and analytical foundation necessary for effective communication and problem-solving.
  • CCTV Control Room Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in operating within a CCTV control room environment, with a proven track record of managing comprehensive CCTV service provisions. Exhibits exceptional attention to detail in surveillance monitoring, ensuring the consistent identification and reporting of incidents. Experienced in updating and maintaining accurate logs and records of all footage, enabling precise data extraction, analysis, and historical review. Adept at coordinating with external agencies, such as law enforcement, to provide essential surveillance data during investigations.
  • Proactive Problem-Solving: Actively gathers and analyses information for effective problem-solving and decision-making. Collaborates with colleagues when needed, ensuring a comprehensive approach to challenges.
  • Crisis Management Capability: Extensive experience in autonomously handling a wide range of high-pressure situations, including managing incidents involving violence, distressed individuals, or potential threats. Demonstrates resilience, strong decision-making, and effective communication under pressure, ensuring the safety and security of all stakeholders. Skilled in documenting incidents accurately for future reference and potential legal use. Proven ability to develop and implement crisis response protocols, leading to improved response times and outcomes in emergency situations.
