We are looking for someone to #JoinUs as a Technical Support Officer in our Technical Support Unit. Could you be who we are looking for?
About the team/Department you will be joining:
We are a small team based near police HQ (Bridgend) who support ad-hoc IT requests from police operational teams and some network infrastructure work to support these requests. We scope, source, configure and deploy IT equipment such as CCTV cameras to help support policing operations.
The team mainly work Monday – Friday 8-4, but there is some requirement to work shifts, as required, to support policing operations. This can be on weekends but is not routine. We often provide guidance to police teams to utilise equipment and act as support if there is an issue.
The department does have an on-call requirement but won’t be required during the apprenticeship.
About the role and your key responsibilities:
This role will undefined internal IT systems that are used on policing operations by officers in the field.
This role will require a close working relationship with investigation teams and equivalent roles in neighbouring forces.
The role is varied and often requires bespoke solutions to problems to be found in a short time frame.
What skills and experience do we need you to bring to the role:
Specific training will be provided but a good set of experiences and skills to have include:
Experience of configuration and deployment of client software or device appliances.
Experience of configuration and deployment of network parameters relating to appliances or devices.
Experience of monitoring and maintaining a Local and Wide Area Network infrastructure with the ability to identify errors and troubleshoot.
Qualification Criteria
Must have a good standard of education to at least GCSE A-C Level, including Maths and English, or be able to demonstrate equivalent skills and abilities.
Must be eligible to register for a Level 3 or above apprenticeship in a relevant subject.
