We currently have a Property Officer role based at Southend Police Station.

 

You will be working as part of a small team overseeing the storage of evidential Property at Southend Police Station.  You will also be part of a wider team covering the South of Essex and you will need to be able to show that you can work collaboratively with others, providing help and support when needed. Our customers come from a range of different backgrounds and you need to demonstrate an ability to treat others with respect and to remain calm in the face of provocation.

 

Your role will be assisting with the administration and storage in respect of items of property, including evidential items to support cases being investigated.

 

As the successful candidate you will ensure that all items of property entering police possession are accurately recorded on to the Property Management computer system and securely stored having regard to any possible hazards.  IT skills are desirable and you will be able to demonstrate knowledge of and be competent in the use of Information Technology such as standard office products, spreadsheets and structured databases, with an understanding of the importance of keeping data safe.

 

You will also be responsible for the disposal of the property in accordance with Force policy.  Attention to detail, accuracy and compliance with relevant documentation, legislation and working practices are essential in this important operational support role.  You must have a proven ability to problem solve, taking responsibility for you own action and referring to policy and procedure as required. 

 

The position involves lifting items with aids where appropriate and handling dangerous items for storage e.g. drugs, firearms.

Essex Police offer incremental increases within this salary band, therefore the salary for this position will rise to a maximum of £28,650.00.
