You will patrol a local area engaging with members of the local community and investigate crimes. Be part of Community-oriented policing focusing on helping people stay out of the criminal justice system, rather than putting them into it.
North Wales Police is looking to further develop its links with its communities by building long-term working partnerships with Neighbourhood Policing Teams. The role of Police Community Support Officer is vital and unique, designed to tackle anti-social behaviour and local issues affecting the quality of life in our communities. Their focus is on crime prevention.

To be eligible to apply:-
You must have a GCSE grade A to C in both Maths and English Language (or equivalent level 2 or above qualifications in both of these subjects). If you do not have the required GCSE in English and Maths, but feel your experience equates to this level then you will be able to take a psychometric test (Verbal Reasoning and Calculation). This will test your academic ability.
You must hold the qualification at the time of submitting your application. We cannot accept 'expected grades', as you will need to supply copies of your certificates as part of your application

What training will I get?
You will receive 10 weeks of initial training (this will be full time Monday-Friday) and include classroom training as well as role plays and practical sessions.
You will complete the training and be equipped with the essential skills and knowledge that you need to move forward to the mentoring phase of the training.
During the mentoring phase which is a period of 8 weeks you will work alongside and be mentored by a Police Community Support Officer Tutor. This is when you’ll be able to put your new skills into practice, under the observations and support of an experienced colleague. You will be assessed regularly by your Tutor and at the end of the 8-week phase – if you’re ready, you’ll be assigned to your new rota and start going out on independent patrol!
North Wales Police are a bilingual organisation and actively encourage all our staff and officers to use Welsh in their daily lives at work. For this role, you’ll need to demonstrate Level 2 Welsh skills, which means you’re able to give and ask for personal details and basic information; to make simple requests and say a few phrases about yourself in Welsh. We do offer support and guidance to help you achieve the required level, you can find out more by visiting our Welsh Language Resources Page.
You’ll also have either three or five days of Welsh training, depending on your current language level.
