Accredited Financial Investigator - Cyber Crime Unit (SEROCU)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for qualified Accredited Financial Investigator to join the Regional Cyber Crime Unit, part of the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU). This is an exciting time to be joining the Regional Cybercrime unit who are tasked with some of the most complex and challenging cybercrime offences taking place in the UK and overseas. Ranging from leading the UK response for a ransomware strain to relentlessly pursing significant cyber-criminals carrying out network intrusions on major international businesses exposing customer data for profit.
SEROCU Cyber Crime Unit also leads the response across the region to the most serious, complex, sophisticated and high harm cyber-enabled offences such as Dark Web offending and fraud. All cybercrime offending involves money laundering so expect to be busy and prepared to overcome challenges.
As an accredited Financial Investigator, your role within this unit will encompass developing intelligence to identify and trace suspects; identify POCA opportunities to seize cash and other assets and conducted financial investigations in support of the operations that have been tasked to the cybercrime unit.
A key area of cybercrime and dark web investigations is the growing of use cryptocurrencies you will be working closely with other financial investigators within the Regional Cryptocurrency unit to deny cyber-criminals their cryptocurrency assets.
The successful applicant will have attained National Fraud Investigation Accreditation. You will have experience working as a accredited Financial Investigation and of presenting financial evidence at Court. You will have the ability to work effectively within a team as well as independently. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are also essential.
You will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand and occasionally this may require working away from home. For this reason a full UK Driving Licence is essential to the role.
Due to the nature of our work, security is of paramount importance to us and therefore it will be necessary to pass and maintain vetting level SC together with a number of enhanced security checks. In order to achieve this, you must have resided in the UK for the past five years. Exemptions may apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government), and studying abroad.
