HP - Volunteer Cadet Leader


Role: Volunteer Cadet Leader

Location: Beverley, Hull & Bridlington

Hours: 18:00- 20:30 on a Wednesday evening during term time.

You would be expected to attend a minimum of 2 sessions per month, but it is preferred you attend as many as possible.

The role of Cadet Leader is to assist with the running of a Cadet Unit, ensure the well-being and safeguarding of the cadets. To promote good citizenship and positive social action in young people. Being a Cadet Leader is a way to give back to your community and gain a real insight into Policing.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support in weekly cadet lessons and events.
  • Work with other Cadet Leaders to produce lessons and activities.
  • Ensure the general safeguarding and wellbeing of the Volunteer Cadets
  • Encourage the Cadets to take part in activities.
  • Attend unit meeting and quarterly cadet leader meetings when possible.
  • Provide support to the Humberside Police Cadet Lead.

What the roles requires:

  • Knowledge of basic safeguarding would be beneficial, but training will be given.
  • Basic level of IT skills essential.
  • Previous work with young people would be beneficial.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • An understanding of GDPR and the need for confidentiality.

Pre – Employment Checks and Eligibility:

  • Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria of at least 5 years to apply for a role within Humberside in any capacity.
  • Successful candidates will undergo a vetting procedure pre-requisite of employment.
  • Tattoo’s will be reviewed as a part of the recruitment process to ensure we maintain a level of professional standards and to make sure the images do not cause offence or are unacceptable.
