Are you passionate about creating an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive? Warwickshire Police is seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Health & Wellbeing Advisor to join our team and play a vital role in supporting health, wellbeing, and accessibility across the organisation.


Job Purpose: 

To support delivery of the force’s Health and Wellbeing Strategy through identifying trends and areas of concern and working with departments to resolve these.

To ensure policies and processes reflect and reinforce the workforce promise to put Health and Wellbeing first.


Main Responsibilities: 

  1. Analyse HR and people data to identify trends and areas of concern – including sickness statistics, Occupational Health feedback, force surveys and Fairness At Work submissions.
  2. Provide targeted support to departments with high absence levels through coaching line managers and quality assuring processes attendance management processes.
  3. Conduct DSE assessments. Provide guidance and advice to users to ensure they use their DSE correctly. Account for additional needs such as disabilities.
  4. Review and develop force policies and procedures which impact on Health & Wellbeing, identifying organisational learning and making improvements, supporting line managers in the implementation of changes.
  5. Liaise with colleagues in HR, Occupational Health and on the Health, Wellbeing and Engagement Board to help deliver improvements in the support provided to officers and staff.
  6. Evaluate the impact of actions taken in terms of KPIs including reducing absence levels, compliance with force policy, timeliness of interventions and improved employee engagement and retention.
  7. Using all available channels, promote the full range of health and wellbeing support services available including those provided by other partners and agencies.
  8. To undertake other duties commensurate with the nature, level of responsibility and grading of this post, as required.

Special Conditions: Some travel throughout the Warwickshire Police area


Person Specification:

Knowledge:

  • A good understanding of the issues that impact Health and Wellbeing within a blue light service and the interventions that can address these
  • Sound knowledge of the Equality Act in relation to employment matters
  • Knowledge of HR/Employee Relations processes relating to attendance management, grievances, misconduct, capability and ill health retirement

Desirable:

  • Level 5 qualification in a relevant area such as HR, Occupational Health, Health & Safety

Experience:

  • Prior experience within a HR, Occupational Health or other wellbeing role within a complex organisation
  • Working collaboratively in a cross functional team to deliver objectives
  • Designing, planning and implementing solutions to Health and Wellbeing challenges in a work setting
  • Evaluating outcomes according to a range of measures to determine the most effective solutions
  • Engaging with people from a variety of backgrounds at both individual and group level to gain buy in and promote different avenues of support

Key Skills:

  • A keen interest in supporting Health and Wellbeing in the workplace
  • Ability to gather and interpret a range of HR data sources to identify trends and areas of concern
  • Ability to coach colleagues and line managers including senior management
  • Good communication skills – effective questioning, listening and empathy, as well the ability to handle difficult conversations, and write policy and guidance documents
  • Confident to deliver presentations to groups of varying sizes
  • Able to work independently, managing own workload and prioritising to deliver objectives to deadlines
