About the team/Department you will be joining:

The Joint Digital Services Division (DSD) delivers a joint digital strategy across Gwent Police and South Wales Police to enable both forces to develop and implement new ways of working and deliver policing to our communities.

The role will sit alongside the eServices Team, within the Research Development & Transformation branch of DSD, which is charged with improving services through the use of technology.

Our office is based at South Wales Police Headquarters in Bridgend, but we offer a smarter working policy which provides the flexibility of hybrid working, combining working from the office and from home.

About the role and your key responsibilities:

  • The role will work in the eServices Team and will be assisting in the management and delivery of existing and new M365 applications for both South Wales Police and Gwent Police.
  • The tactical delivery of a comprehensive service, ranging from issues affecting user accessibility to more complex developmental challenges linked to systems and/or devices product/ service provision and upgrades.
  • To assist in the professional, proactive and dynamic development and implementation of the Microsoft 365 (M365) applications, as well as other applications and services across South Wales Police and Gwent Police.
  • The role will provide technical support to users across both forces in relation to M365 and other applications.
  • To act as an intermediary between customer and developer translating business needs and specifications into a set of working documents for developers to build web and/or mobile phone apps.
  • Be a key stakeholder within the customers project team, updating on development progress and managing change requests and managing expectations.
  • Manage the process of implementing new applications via pilot studies Liase with both internal and external stakeholders

What skills and experience do we need you to bring to the role:

  • Must be computer literate and proficient in all M365 applications.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to communicate complex information to diverse audiences effectively.
  • Understand and appreciate the impact that new technological development has on data quality and have a knowledge, understanding and experience of mitigating with risks to the organisation.
  • Awareness of security risks associated with app developments and data collected, working with FISO and DPIA as necessary.
    Respond in a timely manner to feedback provided by end users and prioritise when issues have an operational impact.
  • Experience of creating and implementing a testing process. Understanding of regression testing.
    Create detailed work items to resolve faults and/or development of new features for apps
    Provide comprehensive training materials via a ‘train the trainer’ approach.

The successful Candidate must be willing to undergo vetting to MV/SC Vetting.

This role is suitable for part time/job share workers.
