We are looking for someone to #JoinUs as a Principal Decision Maker in our Disclosure and Barring Services Unit. Could you be who we are looking for?

About the team/Department you will be joining:

 

  • DBS are a team of approximately 20 staff based in the Information Management Department within HQ.
  • We work 9-5 Monday-Friday, we work either from HQ, Bridgend or from home.
  • The Disclosure and Barring service (DBS) are responsible for researching DBS applications from members of the public who wish to work/volunteer or to have regular contact with children and vulnerable adults. The department is dedicated to protecting children and/or vulnerable adults.

 

About the role and your key responsibilities:


  • To perform the role of Principal Decision Maker, adhering to the policies and procedures as defined in the National Quality Assurance Framework and achieve its objectives by investigating Enhanced Disclosure applications.
  • Assessing the relevance of intelligence/information recovered on an individual case basis for the purpose of disclosure of such intelligence/information to members of the public and potential employers, by applying a risk assessment process to persons applying for positions of employment which allow the post holder access to children and vulnerable adults.

 

What skills and experience do we need you to bring to the role:

 

  • We are looking for a well organised person with good written and oral communication skills who can work as part of a team.
  • We are looking for someone who is able to use appropriate questioning technique to extract required information for searches to be carried out, be able to identify potential problems and causes and good decision-making abilities are essential and have good decision-making abilities.
  • We would like to hear from you if you are computer literate and proficient in Microsoft applications is also essential to the role including a good standard of keyboard skills including good speed and accuracy.

This role is suitable for part time/job share workers 

The successful Candidate must be willing to undergo vetting to MV/SC Vetting.
