Location: Police HQ, Northallerton with the opportunity for hybrid working
Salary: £23,286 - £25,626 per annum (NYP Scale 2-3)
Contract: Permanent | Full Time
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday – Thursday 8.30am – 5pm and Friday 8.30am – 4.30pm
Finance Support Officer – Job Description
We’re looking to appoint a Finance Support Officer to our collaborative Finance Team, supporting North Yorkshire Police and North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service. Whether you're starting out, transitioning from a previous role, or seeking a change of pace, this is a great opportunity to deliver high-quality financial services within essential public safety organisations.
You'll be part of a supportive team working in a fast-paced environment with a strong focus on transactional processing. Flexibility, accuracy, and teamwork are key - especially during busy periods in the financial calendar.
Key Responsibilities Will Include:
- Act as a first point of contact for finance queries, delivering efficient and courteous support.
- Assist in the processing of Accounts Payable and Receivable transactions, ensuring compliance with legislation and financial regulations.
- Provide guidance on financial policies including the Devolved Resource Management Manual (DRM) and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Maintain accurate and manipulable financial data inputs.
- Support in developing and operating financial controls to ensure robust governance.
- Manage correspondence and assist with general administrative duties across the team.
- Work proactively to streamline financial and administrative processes.
Requirements
To be successful in the role you will:
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to advise non-financial colleagues.
- Demonstrate attention to detail in financial systems and work effectively within tight deadlines.
- Be motivated, organised, and committed to delivering results.
- Be confident using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
