Protecting Vulnerable People Investigator

Role Title: PVP Investigator – Strategic Public Protection.

Grade: Scale 6/SO1

Team/Department: Strategic Public Protection, Safeguarding and Public Protection Command, covering Missing Persons and Child Protection.

Based at The Kingsway, Bridgend, but some travel across the force area may be required for meetings, training and engagement.

To effectively fulfil this role the post holder will be required to work weekends with some unsociable hours and must be prepared to undertake such additional duties which may result from changing circumstances, but which may not of necessity, change the general character or level of responsibility of the post.

**Please note, this is a temporary role to provide cover for between 10 and 12 months, until September 2025**

The role involves:

Supporting the strategic work of the public protection business areas, developing and implementing best practice and guidance for front line staff, for the mutual benefit of the force and partners.

Contributing to the implementation and compliance of national recommendations and measuring the Force’s performance and compliance against those recommendations and policy guidelines.

Monitor and report on policy implementation to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.

Review and draft force policies relevant to the area of business covered.

Working in partnership with responsible organisations to ensure the safeguarding of vulnerable persons. This will include representing the force at all forms of safeguarding meetings, sharing information within the context of the law.

Providing advice, guidance and support on varied issues relating to the different workstreams covered.

We are looking for someone:

With excellent communication skills and who must be willing to work closely with both internal departments and partners to promote safeguarding and pro-activity.

With the ability to develop effective working relationships, being proactive in building trust and confidence with colleagues, the community, and partners.

Who can demonstrate knowledge of contextual safeguarding and an awareness of public protection procedures and associated vulnerabilities.

To be able to liaise with stakeholders and assist in reviewing procedures, good practice and legislation in line with emerging trends and recommendations.

To present a positive image and service to both internal and external colleagues at all levels.

The successful candidate must be prepared to undergo vetting to SC/MV level.

Please note, if you are subject to an ongoing PSD investigation, your appointment in this role may be delayed pending an outcome. Whether the role is held open will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
