We are looking for someone to #JoinUs as an Operational Business Support Team Leader in our Safeguarding and Public Protection Department. Could you be who we are looking for?

About the team/Department you will be joining:

You will be joining the Business Unit, a small team based at The Kingsway, Bridgend, providing support and administrative functions to the Safeguarding and Public Protection Portfolio including the Police Online Investigation Team, Missing Person Teams, Exploitation Teams, Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub Teams, Risk Assessment Teams, Management of Sexual Offenders and Violent Offenders Teams, Integrated Offender Management Teams and Youth Justice Teams.

Some travel across the force area may be required for meetings, training and engagement.

The working hours are Mon – Fri, mainly 8am to 4pm.

About the role and your key responsibilities:

**Please note, this is a temporary role for 12 months until January 2026**

Being a valued member of our Business Unit team, you will carry out a wide range of functions around the direct supervision of administrative support staff, including delegating work, mentoring and developing staff and monitoring workloads and performance.  The unit is involved in the delivery of support relating to Human Resources, Finance/Budgets, Health and Safety, Compliance, and general administration functions and the successful candidate will be required to provide support and guidance in all of these areas.  

The role is very dynamic and varied and requires someone who is organised, a good communicator and has a keen eye for accuracy and detail.  

In a multi-functional environment, the role of Team Leader will involve:

  • Delegating work to the administrative support team.
  • Mentoring and Developing staff
  • Providing support to the Business managers and Strategic Command Team
  • Providing advice and guidance to colleagues
  • Project work assigned by the Business Manager

What skills and experience do we need you to bring to the role:

Must be educated to A Level/NVQ Level 3 standard or demonstrate equivalent skills and abilities

Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft applications.

Must have a high standard of keyboard skills including good speed and accuracy (minimum RSA Stage II), or demonstrate equivalent skills and abilities

Previous supervisory experience.

Must have experience of preparing management reports/documentation.

Must demonstrate sound leadership and organisational skills

Must demonstrate drive, determination and commitment to deliver

Must possess excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills
