Fleet Technical Officer

Use your experience within vehicle fleet to provide technical support to Derbyshire Constabulary.

The Assets Team are looking to recruit a Fleet Technical Officer on a full-time permanent basis to ensure vehicles are fit for purpose, comply with current legislation and are available to meet operational policing requirements.

Please note, this role is located at Force Headquarters, Ripley but involves travelling to various sites and locations within and outside the County of Derbyshire so holding a current and valid Category B driving license is essential.

What you’ll be doing

  • Monitoring fleet related output performance indicators in respect of vehicle performance and maintenance, advising the Fleet Manager accordingly on the appropriate corrective measures required to fulfil and maintain targets.
  • Investigate claims of maintenance failure from the user and of user abuse (avoidable repairs) from the contractor.
  • Manage and plan expenditure on fleet commissioning and modification budget expenditure, providing forecasts for budget plans.
  • Procure transport related items of equipment in relation to vehicle commissioning, modifications and or repairs.

The must haves

  • Relevant qualifications or experience in motor vehicle engineering.
  • Technical experience of motor vehicle commissioning, conversions and accident repairs.
  • Experience of providing specialist advice and guidance to customers.
  • Ability to analyse, prepare and present information to a high standard.

Salary - £30,468 - £37,692

For part time hours the salary will be calculated on a pro-rata basis, this is based on the number of hours for the vacancy.
