A permanent opportunity has become available for the role Intelligence Researcher working within CID, Eastern Local Policing Service based at Llay Divisional Police Headquarters.

What does the Intelligence Researcher Role entail?

To provide research support to intelligence analysts and local intelligence officers, and provide resilience in these areas of work.  Duties include:-

  • To scan and evaluate information and intelligence from a wide range of computerised databases, open and closed information sources, utilising relevant method research.
  • Produce research work that critically engages with current practices and policing priorities.
  • Compile relevant reports and intelligence bulletins on current active criminals and crime patterns.
  • To provide a single point of contact with regards to intelligence enquiries, and act upon any intelligence received from these forces / agencies.
  • Provide support in the analysis of criminal intelligence gathered from various sources.
  • To contribute towards the production of analytical documents outside the standard NIM templates where necessary.
  • To respond to intelligence requirements highlighted through the analysis of intelligence and detailed within Target and Problem Profiles (as per the National Intelligence Model).
  • Update the Force computerised Intelligence System with new intelligence developed thorough research, where appropriate.
  • Work closely with Senior Intelligence Staff, Analysts, LIO’s, and FIO’s, to ensure that all parties are working towards the same priorities, and to facilitate a good flow of intelligence.
  • Provide intelligence support to Major Incidents if required.
  • To attend and participate in relevant meetings both locally, regionally and nationally.

 

What do I need for the role of Intelligence Researcher?

  1. NVQ level III or equivalent relevant qualifications and experience.
  2. Proven research skills preferably obtained within an intelligence environment.
  3. Good organisational skills, together with the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
  4. Excellent communication/ presentation skills, commensurate with grade.
  5. Possess an awareness of police tactics.
  6. Proven ability to work as an effective member of a team.
  7. Competent use of various IT systems.

 

North Wales Police are a bilingual organisation and for this role, you’ll need to demonstrate Level 2 Spoken Welsh skills, which means you’re able to give and ask for personal details and basic information; to make simple requests and say a few phrases about yourself in Welsh.
