An exciting opportunity to join an established team of IT trainers responsible for designing & delivering training on key Police systems to the whole Police family. This is a particular exciting time with the recent and imminent introduction of new national systems; you will be required to learn and assist in ensuring our training design and delivery meets national and local training needs, working with stakeholders and the rest of the team where applicable, so being a good team player is really important to us.

The selection process will consist of a paper sift and if applicable a face-to-face interview consisting of a 10 minute presentation, the subject you will be notified of nearer the time, and then a structured interview.

Main Responsibilities

  • This posts main responsibilities will be to, design, develop and deliver training and development across a variety of information technology strands including office productivity and bespoke or specific Police software such as PNC and NICHE.
  • All training posts are generic in nature and therefore there may be a requirement to deliver training packages as a facilitator/lecturer to meet the demands of the force across other areas on occasion.
  • Design and deliver training packages for on and off the job training. To include written materials, classroom sessions and learning exercises, utilising all available technology by adopting innovative and alternative methods of delivery where appropriate.
  • Identify individual training needs of students, as well as the occupational and organisational training needs of the Force (training needs analysis).  Meet and discuss with line management and senior police and support staff management, the training needs of individuals, departments and divisions.  To accurately and fairly assess the skills and abilities of those undergoing training against relevant National Occupational Standards and Authorised Practice.
  • Represent the People Department at internal and external meetings, meet with representatives of outside organisations and represent the force at outside conferences, if directed.
