- S26-039 Digital Media Investigator (LC7-8)
Applications are invited for the post of Digital Media Investigator - FMIT within HQ Crime Division based at St Johns Court, Blackburn Town Centre Police Station.
The purpose of this role is to work as part of a team within the force major investigation team, investigating homicides and other serious and complex crimes.
This is not a comprehensive list of all the tasks which may be required of the post holder. It is illustrative of the general nature and level of responsibility of the work to be undertaken.
- Act as a single point of contact for all digital data for an investigation, providing advice, guidance, and training to the team and wider colleagues across the force. Work closely with the DMIU to ensure best practice in that area.
- Conduct peer reviews of digital work within the MIR.
- To advise officers / staff when required to do so on digital opportunities in any investigation
- To ensure that their skills are up to date and maintained through research into new areas of digital exploitation
- To attend major incident briefings and advise/co-ordinate digital investigation strategies in line with SIO policy. The strategy is to incorporate all digital devices ensuring quality standards are met.
- To provide briefings to Senior Investigating Officers with regards to digital tactics available during an investigation and to set the digital investigation strategy for such investigations
- Perform advanced manual Cloud downloads of various social media profiles and/or Cloud CCTV.
- Record detailed, comprehensive forensic contemporaneous examination notes, photographs and logs of all digital forensic activities conducted, performed in accordance with local and national policies.
- Obtain Production Orders from Court.

Skills and Experience:
It is essential that successful candidates attend and pass Cyber Crime / Digital Media Investigation and Open Source courses to remain in role.
Experience in using digital data in investigations
Vetting and Medical:
Please be aware, as a condition of your appointment you must undergo and pass Recruitment Vetting (RV). Please be aware there is a minimum 3 year UK residency requirement for Recruitment vetting and you must be 18 years old at the point of applying. Successful applicants will also be subject to a medical assessment.
