Are you ready to take your HR career to new heights?

Join the National Police Air Service (NPAS) and play a pivotal role in supporting the teams who deliver safe and effective police air support. We're looking for a proactive, confident, and collaborative HR Consultant to support our diverse workforce across England and Wales.
This is your chance to make a real impact in a service unlike any other.

NPAS provides essential police aviation support 24/7, covering major incidents, missing persons searches, vehicle pursuits and more.
As a member of the West Yorkshire Police People Directorate, you'll be working in a fast paced, complex and highly regulated environment where your expertise genuinely shapes outcomes for officers, staff, and the communities we serve.

As an NPAS HR Consultant, you'll deliver a high quality, customer focused HR service and no two days will be the same. You will:
• Provide expert advice on absence, discipline, grievances, performance, probation, and general people management.
• Work closely with managers, influencing decisions aligned to Force values and the Police Code of Ethics.
• Support organisational change programmes, restructuring, and workforce planning.
• Work with the NPAS Head of Business Services and Finance to help manage staffing profiles and budgets.
• Coach and develop managers through training and briefings on People policies, processes, and employment law.
• Work effectively with Trade Unions, Staff Associations, and external bodies such as ACAS.
• Analyse HR data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
• Support recruitment and resourcing activities through close liaison with the NPAS Resourcing Supervisor.
• Proactively support the delivery of the NPAS People Plan.

In this role, you’ll be at the centre of how NPAS operates, enabling outstanding people outcomes that contribute to public safety.

You’ll bring a blend of strong HR expertise, professional confidence, and the ability to build trusted relationships.

Essential:
• CIPD Level 5 (or working towards) or equivalent experience
• Proven experience providing HR advisory support in a busy environment
• Strong knowledge of employment legislation
• Experience managing complex HR cases
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to analyse HR data and use information effectively
• Confidence using IT systems including Microsoft Office
• Ability to travel across England & Wales

Desirable:
• Access to a vehicle for business use
• Experience applying Police Regulations or Police Staff Terms & Conditions

You’ll partner with colleagues across all ranks and roles within NPAS and West Yorkshire Police, as well as key external stakeholders. Relationship building is central to success in this role.

If you're an experienced HR professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and wants to make a difference to national policing, we’d love to hear from you.

The application process will close at 23:55hrs on 15th March 2026..
