Operational Trainer
We are seeking a committed and skilled Operational Training Instructor to help equip our workforce with the knowledge, confidence, and capability to deliver high‑quality policing across Lincolnshire. This is a training role with impact (and largely without the classroom). You will play a vital role in developing and delivering training in key operational areas:
- Personal and Public Safety Training (PPST)
- First Aid
- Method of Entry
- Public Order
- CBRN
- You will be bringing learning to life through scenarios and practical experiences, giving officers the confidence and skills to handle some of the most challenging and exciting elements of frontline policing.
- Designing, delivering, and evaluating a wide range of operational training, including scenario‑based learning, in line with national standards and best practice.
- Monitoring learner progress and identifying where additional support or development is required.
- Acting as an expert witness for Use of Force cases, producing statements and development plans when needed.
- Maintaining subject matter expertise to ensure our training remains current, relevant, and innovative.
- Working with other forces, the College of Policing, and partner agencies to align training with legislation and emerging guidance.
- Contributing to annual training plans and coordinating operational training schedules.
- Supporting recruitment processes, including fitness testing and guidance for staff preparing for operational courses.
- Completing risk assessments for all training activity and providing training across various locations within and occasionally outside Lincolnshire.
- Carrying out essential administrative duties to support effective training delivery.
High‑quality training is central to keeping our communities safe. By ensuring our officers and staff are well‑prepared, confident, and professionally skilled, you will directly support the Force’s priorities of preventing crime, protecting people from harm, and supporting those in need. Your work will help uphold the Force’s values—being courageous, open, fair, and inclusive—and the principles of the Code of Ethics that guide exemplary public service.
What We’re Looking ForWe are looking for someone who is passionate about developing others, committed to high professional standards, and confident delivering practical, scenario‑based training. You will be an effective communicator, able to work collaboratively with colleagues and partners, and skilled at adapting training to meet diverse learning needs. Strong organisational skills, a focus on safety, and the ability to maintain up‑to‑date specialist knowledge are essential.
You will be required to posses the ability to consistently achieve level 6.3 on the bleep test, or equivalent (will be tested at interview & then annually throughout career) and the ability to safely lift and use an enforcer in order to deliver MoE training
