Location: Headquarters, Northallerton with opportunity for hybrid working
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full Time, 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday
Salary: Scale 6, £33,603 to £35,772 per annum

Are you a confident, people centred leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and loves making a real difference? We’re looking for an inspiring HR Admin Team Leader to lead the delivery of high-quality HR Admin services across North Yorkshire Police and North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a dedicated team, streamline and improve how we work, and ensure our people receive exceptional support throughout every stage of their employment journey.
What You’ll Lead & Deliver
- Lead, coach and develop the HR Admin Services team, building capability and managing performance and workload.
- Oversee end to end HR transactional activity, including starters, contracts, changes, leavers and payroll inputs, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and quality
- Drive process improvements, streamline ways of working and enhance the employee experience.
- Monitor performance and service delivery against KPIs and SLAs, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
- Act as an escalation point and subject matter expert for complex HR administration queries, including policy interpretation and basic employment law guidance.
- Produce and analyse people data, identifying trends, risks and opportunities for improvement.
- Oversee the management and maintenance of employee records, ensuring compliance with legislation, data protection and organisational procedures.
- Lead audits, assurance activity and improvement projects across HR systems, data and processes.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships and represent People Services in meetings and organisational projects.
- Support strategic initiatives and projects, contributing insight, research and operational expertise.
About you…
- You’ll be a confident and credible leader, skilled in coaching, managing performance and creating a high performing, positive culture.
- Have proven experience managing an administration team delivering high quality, customer focused services to meet SLAs and KPIs, ideally in a fast paced environment.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service, problem solving and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt your approach to meet diverse needs and evolving priorities.
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, able to present data clearly using Microsoft Office.
- Have experience handling confidential and sensitive information, and a track record of driving continuous improvement through coaching and developing others.
- Have a good understanding of equality issues and relevant legislation (desirable).
