Transfer/Secondment - CTPNW - Head of Counter Terrorism Policing North West - Chief Superintendent - Command Unit - 1894113, - Ref:1894113
About Counter Terrorism Policing North West - CTPNWOur mission is to keep our communities safe from terrorism.
As a five force collaboration we deliver CT services to our regional forces as well as forming part of the national CT Network.
Our 950 staff work to the Government Contest agenda of Prevent, Protect, Prepare and Pursue. We use a functional model with Senior Responsible Officers, line manged by the CT Head, leading areas of Investigations, Intelligence, Business Services, Borders, Special Projects, Prevent and Change.
Outside of London the NW is one of the busiest CT areas in the country. We encompass the conurbation of Greater Manchester, the cities and towns of Liverpool, Preston and Blackburn as well as more rural locations in Cheshire and Cumbria. This variety is reflected in our risk profile with both Extreme Right Wing and Islamist terrorism featuring across the region.
Our teams work at all our major ports including Manchester and Liverpool Airports, and the West Coast Seaports as well as flexing to cover and respond to the other Borders locations that are impacted by the Common Travel Area.
Over the last decades we have seen a number of major CT events including the Manchester Arena attack, the Liverpool Womens Hospital explosion and the Heaton Park Schul attack which remains a live investigation. We have also disrupted a number of significant terrorist plots including the first disrupted anarchist plot in Great Britain (Jacob Graham) and more recently the islamist extremist plot to target the GM Jewish Community (Walid Saadaoui, Amar Hussain, Bilel Saadaoui).
