- S25-443 Occupational Health Technician (LC5)

Lancashire Constabulary is looking for an Occupational Health Technician to join our team based at Hutton Headquarters!

Working in a busy environment to undertake a variety of routine medical screening tests to a strict timetable, as well as providing administrative support to the wider Occupational Health Team

Occupational Health provides a wide range of services to employees across the Constabulary, from the very first stages of Recruit medical, right through to ill health retirement. The ideal candidate will have experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team and a very busy office environment - the role is varied with no two days being the same.

Every day we deal with internal and external enquiries by telephone, correspondence and personal face to face contact, so it is very important to be a people person as we welcome people to the department and help them through sometimes the most difficult times in their career.  Being supportive, understanding, discreet and using tact and diplomacy should be a given in the right candidate.

We use manual and IT based systems daily – our own internal ones and logging into others so we can support others in their work e.g. the Recruitment Team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To undertake various medical screening tests as part of recruitment campaigns and medical assessments, as directed by, and under the supervision of, the Practice (Triage) Manager
  • To undertake various medical screening tests as part of routine medical assessments on police officers and police staff in specialised roles, either in the Occupational Health Unit or in Division
  • To undertake wellbeing initiatives in Divisions and Departments.
  • To ensure that any abnormal results and recordings are referred to the appropriate person as and when required.
  • To maintain confidential records and to be accountable for the accuracy of their content and to ensure they are in accordance with the standards for professional record keeping
  • To record all tests on relevant systems within Occupational Health.

Please see the attached job specification for further details.

Skills and Experience:

  • NVQ Level 3 Health Care or equivalent.

Vetting and Medical:

Please be aware, as a condition of your appointment you must undergo and pass Recruitment Vetting (RV). Please be aware there is a minimum 3 year UK residency requirement for Recruitment vetting and you must be 18 years old at the point of applying. Successful applicants will also be subject to a medical assessment.
