CCU Researcher - Police Staff
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a researcher within the Counter Corruption Unit (CCU) based at Headquarters.
Main Purpose of Role
To research, interpret, evaluate and present information / intelligence / evidence in support of the Force Counter Corruption Unit in the delivery of the Strategic Threat Assessment and Control Strategy. Support the Counter Corruption Unit Analyst and other colleagues by providing material to enable detailed assessments & intelligence products to be produced.
Key Skills & Experience Required
- Experience in use of computer databases and other large computerised systems to research, collate and analyse information.
- Competent in use of Microsoft Excel,Word, Access & PowerPoint applications.
- Experience in the research of information from a variety of sources with the ability to effectively collate and evaluate findings.
- Experience of preparing detailed reports and presenting information in a variety of formats.
- Experience and understanding of the Data Protection Act, the Criminal Procedures and Investigation Act, National Intelligence Model, Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000, Human Rights Act 1998, Government Security Classifications and their implications to crime investigation.
- Able to assimilate and make sense of relevant information, identifying potential risks, links, patterns, trends, series, similarities and discrepancies.
- Must be an attentive listener and create a positive impact when communicating whether verbally or in writing. Must have a clear and courteous manner and an ability to adapt their communication style to suit the needs of the audience.
- Able to demonstrate good innovation and problem- solving abilities to develop and apply effective and appropriate research parameters for problems and to be able to apply these skills to problems which may be dynamic and/or where the requirement is vague.
- Must be sufficiently self-motivated, prioritising work and able to use own initiative without constant supervision to achieve targets and meet deadlines.
- Must be able to work effectively as part of a team.

Vetting Level – The post holder will be required to work in a confidential environment, with a high level of integrity, and be vetted to Management vetting level.
For current Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner staff applicants, please note that Nottinghamshire Police would be a new employer. However, an agreement has been made whereby all tenure and length of service will be honoured.
Vetting Level – Management – you must have resided in the UK for at least the last 5 years, with less than 12 months spent abroad (some exceptions for those living on a UK military base).
