We are looking for skilled professionals to support operational Forensic Collision Investigation, working from a regional base on a 24/7 shift pattern with an associated on‑call rota.

We are also recruiting experienced FCIs with a strong background in both operational investigation and digital technologies. Our investigators are based at one of four locations—Melton, Sheffield, Thirsk, or Wakefield—and attend a wide range of incidents, from rural single‑vehicle collisions to major, complex motorway events.

- Role Overview

Operational FCIs attend fatal and potentially fatal collisions, and other vehicle‑related incidents. The role involves the use of advanced technology and investigative techniques to gather and analyse evidence, producing high‑quality reports for Coroner’s Courts, the Criminal Justice System (CJS), and partner agencies.

This is a career progression role with a salary range of £37,020 – £42,612, dependent on qualifications and experience (see attached role profiles). Depending on location and duties, additional shift and weekend allowances may apply.

Successful candidates will normally start at the bottom of the scale, progressing through the scheme following attainment of required qualifications and successful assessments. FCIs also participate in an on‑call rota outside normal working hours.

Membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS)
