Ensure compliance of relevant legislation, appropriate handling and storage, in relation to explosives for the County of Durham and Darlington area.Issue explosive certificates to members of public and businesses.
Conduct inspections into licensed premises.
Assess Health and Safety risks relating to the safe storage of explosives.
Arrange permits for Clay Pigeon shoots.
The investigation of issues related to the licensing of firearms, shotguns, ammunition and explosives to ensure the preservation of public safety and compliance within the law.
Carrying out enquiries to ensure all applicants for firearms and shotgun certificates are fit and responsible persons to hold such weapons. This will involve visiting members of the public in their home or business premises.
