Hours: 37 Hours per week (Full-time) Monday to Friday.
Flexibility Requirement: Candidates must be open to flexible daily working hours to meet the operational needs of the department. This may include adjusting start and finish times, providing cover during peak periods, or supporting colleagues during absences. Flexibility is essential to ensure consistent service delivery and effective team collaboration.

Overall Purpose of the Role: To deliver an effective, efficient, and high-quality service to the organisation by managing and developing staff, optimising methods and processes, and ensuring continued ISO accreditation, including extensions of scope. The role leads on technical operations within the Digital Forensics Unit (DFU), providing expert scientific and technical advice to officers and staff on electronic forensic services.

Key Responsibilities:
- Establish, review, maintain and develop existing and new analytical procedures and methods for Digital Forensics ensuring any changes are communicated to staff within the DFU and the wider function.
- Provide advice and guidance on technical matters and strategy in relation to the DFU’s day to day operations, including identifying emerging technologies to be assimilated, integrated and introduced within the department, and undertaking projects which could impact on the service offered.
- To develop and contribute to a robust process of welfare support and additional onward referral for staff within Digital Forensics.
- Build good working relationships with partners and key stakeholders including the Quality Manager and other technical managers within the organisation, advising on technical matters and strategy in relation to Digital Forensics.
- Conduct, oversee and peer review, technical reports produced within the DFU and by external providers, ensuring that external contractors are competent and comply with the ISO accreditations whilst carrying out work for Humberside Police
- To deliver continuous improvement of DFU performance including the completion and corrective action from internal audits, problem solving, investigation of anomalies including root causes analysis for non-conformances and trend analysis.
- To advise Senior Investigating Officers (SIO) regarding electronic forensic services and how this can enhance the investigation and achieve the objectives.
- Makes decisions relating to the effectiveness of methods and processes taking place within the lab, making recommendations and implementing improvements where necessary.

- Excellent organisational skills
- Possess an in-depth and current understanding of digital investigations and digital forensic techniques
- Must be willing to undertake and complete the College of Policing Core Skills in Data Recovery & Analysis, Forensic Tool Kit and Encase courses.
- Be able to demonstrate advanced competency in computer and portable digital device examinations
- Has an understanding of the development of Standard Operating Procedures.
- Possess an understanding of exhibit management and handling processes.
- Experience of working in a confidential environment.
- Good presentation skills and report writing skills.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision when required.
- Carries out tasks in an accurate and methodical manner with an eye for detail.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to prioritise workload.
