The Professional Standards Directorate (PSD) of Greater Manchester Police is situated at Force Headquarters, Central Park, North Manchester. It is headed by a Detective Chief Superintendent and consists of 3 separate units. The complaints and misconduct unit is responsible for dealing with complaints from members of the public and internal misconduct investigations.

The department consists of highly trained and experienced investigators, supported by a team of police staff who perform a variety of roles.

The branch is responsible for liaison with the office of the Mayor for Greater Manchester, who is also the Police and crime Commissioner for Greater Manchester Police. The role of Service Recovery & Appeals Support Officer is to deal with enquiries and prepare complaint files for review by the Deputy Mayors Office and the Independent Office of Police Conduct.

Alongside this core role, the support officer also carries out other administrative functions as part of the wider business support unit.

You should have a good general standard of education and experience of working in an administration environment. You should also have experience relevant to the post including: checking, recording, inputting and retrieving information.

Experience of maintaining administrative systems is essential as is the ability to produce written work to the required standard. You will also be capable of working to timescales with minimum supervision
