The Insurance Risk Manager role is demanding and diverse, you will be consulted and asked to advise on strategic and operational activities, your input will be crucial to allowing operational officers to perform their activities safely and effectively whilst, protecting the Force’s reputation and finances. Procuring insurance for the emergency services sector and police forces particularly is challenging as risks are high and the market although competitive is limited. You will be responsible for insuring multi-millions in terms of assets and property and will maintain an insurance portfolio covering everything from material damage to liability insurance for unmanned aircraft systems.
The role does allow for some flexibility and the ability to work from home or agile for part of the working week but, the priority will always be ensuring the needs of the organisation are fully met.

Excellent communication skills are key and the ability to provide concise and clear advice to all levels of the organisation is fundamental. The role works with commercial partners, internal colleagues and professionals and peers across other forces and public sector bodies. The work is varied, multi-tasking is normal and sometimes pressurised timeframes are imposed as this role is always, part of helping to provide a service and the solution for the operational officers we support.
