Lateral Inspector Transfer to Hertfordshire – External Candidates
Hertfordshire Constabulary is inviting applications from substantive Inspectors and Detective Inspectors seeking lateral transfer. All applicants will be assessed fairly and equally, based on their suitability and competency in rank.
To be successful, you must demonstrate your capability in:
- Preventing harm and crime
- Catching criminals and solving crime
- Protecting victims and vulnerable people
- Providing effective, visible leadership aligned with Hertfordshire Constabulary values
Application Process
External candidates must complete the Herts Inspector External Lateral Application Pack 2026, providing evidence against the four areas listed above. Once completed, this form should be presented to your line manager for review and endorsement. For full details, please refer to the attached candidate guidance.
Completed Herts Inspector External Lateral Application Packs must be emailed to promotions@herts.police.uk by Friday 13th February 2026 at 12:00 PM.
Next Steps
If successful through application stage, candidates will then be invited to attend an in-person Board process, which will assess decision-making, leadership, judgement, and alignment with Team Herts behaviours and values.
Boards for this process will take place from week commencing 23rd March 2026.
