Salary: The starting salary is £34,808, which includes allowances totalling £2,928.
The salary is broken down as £31,880 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £34,108 Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

As a Personal Assistant and Operational Support Officer you will provide a full range of administrative support to the Operational Command Unit Commander and, as required to the Specialist Crime Team SLT.
There are three vacancies, one in each of the following Operational Command Units (OCUs):
- Homicide and Major Investigations (MIT)
- Proactive and Trident
- Complex Case and Exploitation
The postholder will be pivotal in providing support to the OCU Commander with excellent organisational and administrative skills.
The private office consists of the OCU Commander (Detective Chief Superintendent), the Staff Officer (Detective Sergeant) and this role, the Personal Assistant / Operational Support Officer. Cobalt Square is the HQ for all four OCUs in Specialist Crime and is the location for all the private offices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle enquiries (phone, email or in person) promptly and professionally, ensuring issues are resolved or re-directed
- Manage the OCU Commander’s mailbox and calendar. Draft and send appropriate emails
- Maintain and update trackers and spreadsheets (e.g. team performance, training compliance and HR data). Manage and update the on-call/duty rotas
- Manage documents in Box, OneDrive and SharePoint, maintaining the electronic storage systems
- Organise commendation ceremonies and other events (e.g. Specialist Crime Expos, training days and overseas visits etc)
- Take notes of meetings, as required by the OCU Commander
- Support SLT-level meetings (e.g. Finance, SLT, People, Health & Safety, Reactive Review) ensuring meetings are booked, documents are circulated, actions are recorded and progress followed-up
- Facilitate delivery of local audits, inspections and compliance checks
- Support HR activities. Examples include organising commendation certificates & letters of thanks; monitoring PDRs; dealing with welcome/exit interviews; acting as a HR single point of contact and assisting with promotion processes
- Conduct research and gather documents for the OCU Commander
- Conduct communication tasks, such as drafting/publishing OCU newsletters and updating the intranet/SharePoint site
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of private office processes, raising ideas for improvement where appropriate
- Perform other administrative duties consistent with the role
