We are looking for someone to #JoinUs as an Assistant Tailor/Tailoress in our Stores department. Could you be who we are looking for?

South Wales Police have an exciting opportunity for a skilled Tailor/Tailoress to join our dedicated Central Stores team within the Estates Department. This new role will assist in providing an efficient tailoring and fitting facility to the South Wales Police force, ensuring uniforms meet the highest standards of fit and comfort. Working alongside an experienced full-time and part-time tailoress, you will support the Stores Manager in delivering a professional tailoring service across the force area.

About the role and your key responsibilities:

 

  • Carry out general fitting and tailoring duties for police uniforms and associated garments.
  • Undertake minor alterations and repairs to ensure garments meet operational requirements (after completion of training if necessary).
  • Maintain accurate records and complete associated administrative tasks.
  • Provide advice on garment fitting and sizing to officers and staff.
  • Assist with stock management and liaise with suppliers where necessary.

 

What skills and experience do we need you to bring to the role:

 

We are seeking someone who has studied in a relevant discipline or has transferrable knowledge, with the ability to demonstrate some understanding of tailoring and fittings. However, attitude and adaptability will be key for this role. You should have excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality, combined with good organisational skills and the ability to manage your workload effectively. Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach are essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
