Police Constable Digital Examiner
PLEASE NOTE: YOU NEED TO BE A CURRENT SERVING OFFICER IN A HOME OFFICE FORCE OR A PREVIOUS SERVING OFFICER IN A HOME OFFICE FORCE.
As part of our Serious Organised Crime Unit, you will be joining our Digital Forensics Team at a time when we have experienced the biggest reduction in crime for any geographical force across the country and by joining you will become part of a team committed to the future of Digital Investigation.
You will utilise a range of proprietary hardware and software to undertake extraction and analysis across a range of devices, supporting the force in producing insights and evidence in pursuit of successful outcomes across the full range of investigations.
We particularly welcome applicants with the following skills:
- College of Policing core skills in mobile device / computer examination or equivalent
- Digital Forensics training and experience in core products eg. Axiom, Cellebrite, Oxygen
- Similar related digital investigation background eg. Cyber, Digital Multimedia, Triple I.

Recent re-joiners may also be considered, but this will be on a case-by-case basis.
Applicants should complete an online expression of interest (no more than 500 words) detailing when they have solved a policing problem. Answers will be marked against CVF Innovative and Open Minded level 1. The answer should detail the situation, objective, action and result. Candidates may wish to include how they utilised evidence-based policing best practice.

In order to transfer to Nottinghamshire Police from a Home Office Police force, you must:
- Be a serving officer in a recognised Home Office police force at the rank of Constable.
- Constable applicants must have completed the 2 year probationary period.
- Be free from complaints and hold a full UK/EU manual driving licence.

What is a re-joiner?
A re-joiner is a person who is to be appointed as a member of a police force having previously served as a member of a police force, having satisfactorily completed the period of probationary service in the rank of constable required under Regulation 12 and resigned or retired from that force. Please be aware that rejoiner application's will be reviewed on a case by case basis.
For clarification, where ‘substantive’ is stated:
Sergeants/Inspectors who were promoted under the National Police Promotion Framework process, will only become substantive in rank once they have completed the following:-
- work based assessment (Step 4 NPPF),
- 12 months following posting (which took place after interview/board process – Step 3 NPPF),
- declaration completed by first line manager and Head of Department demonstrating competence in rank
- UAP and UPP checks completed
Sergeants/Inspectors who were promoted having completed the Ospre promotion part 1 & 2, are substantive in rank from the posting which takes place after the interview/board process.
Those qualified for promotion through the Ospre process will be expected to complete their work based assessment prior to applying for substantive Sergeant posts.
